FLOW CLARKE/CRAN HOUSE CALGARY2007-14 ANDREW KING / AK A
on june 19 2005 the house of choreographer denise clarke and painter chris cran was flooded by the waters of the elbow river, which flows in front of their site..
the damaged house is to be removed and replaced by a construct that responds critically to the event and the art making strategies of the users.
the building is composed of a tough, resilliant poured ‘pier’, serving as public and service spaces on the first lower and main floors. A privilege ‘cabinet’
clad in wood and engaging the river is placed on top of the pier, creating private spaces, decks and balconies and views to the river and city beyond.
